One may be forgiven for thinking that camping is a recreation that is best left for the warmer months… However, I beg to differ.
Imagine waking up to a scenery of a snowy landscape and feeling the crunch of your boots on the frost as you breathe in the fresh, crisp air.
Too often we are caught up in the endless cycle of day to day life – where even our rest time is packed with endless pursuits and things that need to be done. Winter camping gives you something that summer camping may not – solitude… where summer mornings are filled with the sounds of nature and bustling fellow campers, winter mornings are filled with… well, silence – a beautiful, addictive silence that will have you coming back for more year after year.
Winter camping in tents will revive your spirits and reconnect you with the wonders of nature – it will help to alleviate those stresses and put that oomph back into your life!
It’s also good for your health… now, I know what you’re thinking… this guy is nuts, cold weather gives you colds! But hear me out – germs actually thrive in indoor environments, where we are more likely to be in contact and breathing the same air as people who maybe carrying them – whereas, breathing in fresh air out in the open, where there are a lot less people, is sure to keep you safe from those nasty bugs.
So as you can see, winter camping has many benefits.
Beautiful views, lots of addictive alone time and a rejuvenation of mind and body.
The key is to be prepared – as long as you have the right equipment, you’ll find that winter camping can be one of the most pleasurable experiences out there!
I’ve put together an essential kit list for camping, including winter camping, that you can find here.
